Google Throws Out BMW

In an effort to rid itself of spam, Google took the necessary steps of removing the car giants German website from its index.

Matt Cutts, an engineer with Google, told his faithful flock of webmasters, that Google promised to pay a lot more attention to spam in other languages, whether it be German, French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, or any other language.

As Matt pointed out: “I have no patience for keyword-stuffed doorway pages that do JavaScript redirects, no matter what the language. Pages like this add very little value to the user.”

Matt, who also goes by the alias of Inigo, said his webspam team removed the site as it clearly violated the webmaster quality guidelines of Google and warned others: “Don’t deceive your users or present different content to search engines than you display to users.” In order for the site to return to its index, Google require an inclusion request once the violation has been removed.

Just before Matt signed off for the evening he also revealed that a European car maker had already been banned for using hidden text on its site, had rectified the problem and was all set for reinclusion.

Now all we need to find out is which agency BMW used for the up-keep of their site. I wonder if they knew anything about it and take action as this is not exactly the kind of publicity they need.

And of course if nobody holds their hands up, then I’m sure BMW ‘have vays off making them torque.’
