Mazda confirms its position as Britain’s favourite sports car manufacturer with 40 per cent segment share
The first month of sales of the all-new third generation Mazda MX-5, combined with the ongoing success of the unique rotary-engined Mazda RX-8, has put Mazda at almost 40 per cent share of the non-premium sports segment this month.
Total UK sales of the Mazda RX-8 have now reached over 15,500 since its launch in October 2003. Meanwhile, 460 customers bought the new Mazda MX-5 this past month via the preorder website, which launched in August, including 300 special launch edition models that sold out by mid-October.
Top volume seller for Mazda in October was the Mazda 3 at just over 800 units, yet again proving its worth as a fresh alternative in the crowded family car C-segment. Mazda 6 sales reached over 500 units, while Mazda RX-8 October sales were over 400 in line with the fantastic MX‑5 result of 460 vehicles sold.
Total Mazda sales for the month reached 2,635 units resulting in a market share of 1.69 per cent for October and 1.92 per cent year to date. Total Mazda sales so far this year have reached 41,850 putting the Zoom-Zoom manufacturer on track for another successful year of sales growth in the UK.
