Swiftly on the back of the recent facelift Hyundai Getz launch, a new Special Edition has been introduced into the model line up aptly named the SE.
Rarely do car makers release limited editions so early into a new car launch but Hyundai claim it is in response to consumer needs and competitor activity.
As Hyundai themselves put it, the new SE is ‘designed to attract a new consumer base to the Getz and to the Hyundai brand in particular a younger audience’. Ok with that out of the way, let’s have a look at the specification.
The SE will be based on the entry level 1.1 GSi 3dr and be available with two new unique interior colours – Hip Hop Red (solid) with Red Interior Trim and Ebony Black (solid) with a Blue Interior Trim. Air conditioning is dropped to keep the price point below £7,000 and the car will feature a Special Edition badge.
Priced at £6995 OTR the SE doesn’t qualify for consumer offers such as 3 yrs Free servicing. Also bear in mind that for £500 more, you may as well go for the 1.1 GSi as the model qualifies for the servicing offer (worth £380) as well as air conditioning. So it would seem that Hyundai want to offer a competitive price point to keep the new Hyundai Getz in-line with competition and allow dealers up-sell to the basic model.
Note* Auto community will be publishing a recent Hyundai Getz review later in the week as well as our first Hyundai Getz road test.
