Facelift Getz Residual Values

Staying on the Hyundai Getz theme for the time being, CAP Data has just released residual values for the facelift Getz.

It’s interesting to see how well they hold up against the competition as the pre-conception has always been that Hyundai cars don’t hold their values as well as the European and mainstream Japanese models. Hmmm…so fans of the used Toyota Yaris are not going to be pleased to see that the Getz retained a higher value after 60,000 miles and 36 mths, according to this latest report.

The pre-facelift Getz models were always on a par value-wise with the rest of the pack, but since the decision was made to upgrade and smarten up the appearance, the new model seems to be setting the standard.

Here are the latest values for the new Getz range from CAP Data (based on 60,000 miles and 36mths):

  • 1.1 GSi 3dr – 32%
  • 1.1 CDX 5dr – 34%
  • 1.4 GSi 3dr – 31%
  • 1.4 CDX 5dr – 32%
  • 1.5 CRTD GSi 5dr – 31%
  • 1.5 CRTD CDX+ 3dr – 31%

I think what is suprising here is that all the above retain values above 30% which is the industry benchmark. Overall it’s an improvement of around 4% when comparing against the previous model. It also illustrates how the Korean giants are establishing themselves firmly in the European market place and with product improvements ongoing, look set to continue this trend.

These values are only coming about because the cars must be commanding higher values at auction, which is where CAP (Current Auction Price) get their data. So there’s clearly a fairly strong market place for second hand Hyundai Getz models, which is always good news for any car maker.

Here are the some of the competitors values as published by CAP Data for the same period.

  • Citroen C3 1.4 SX 5dr – 28%
  • Fiat Punto 1.2 Active Sport 3dr – 27%
  • Fiat Punto 1.3 Multijet Dynamic 5dr – 26%
  • Mitsubishi 1.3 Colt Equippe 3dr – 34%
  • Nissan Micra 1.2 S 3dr – 27%
  • Nissan Micra 1.4 SE 5dr – 27%
  • Peugeot 206 1.1 S 5dr – 28%
  • Peugeot 206 1.6 16v SE 5dr – 27%
  • Renault Clio 1.5 dCi 65 Expression 5dr – 28%
  • Suzuki Swift 1.3 GL 3dr – 21%
  • Toyota Yaris 1.0 T3 3dr – 30%
  • Toyota Yaris 1.3 T Spirit 5dr – 29%
  • Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 i 16v Design 3dr – 25%
  • Vauxhall Corsa 1.3 CDTi SXi 5dr – 26%

So the report covers a fairly comprehensive list of cars although i was disapointed not to see Ford and Kia on there. Especially the Picanto being a stablemate of the Getz and the Korean partners meteoric rise in vehicle sales this year.
