Update : More On The Birdseye Pea Car

Well it would appear a lot of other people liked the liitle Pea Car from the Birdsye TV Ad too. So much so that information has sprung up from all over the place since I first noticed the new BirdsEye TV Ad on Saturday and so it gives me an opportunity to post some of that information here.

The car was designed and built by Asylum Models and Effects. Then Bakers Patterns, who produce polystyrene sculptures as well as manufacture polystyrene patterns for the automotive industry, made the poly tool on their CNC machines using Cad files produced and supplied by Asylum Models.

They then took fibre glass moulds from this then edditioned the car with spare panels to replace the damage that they would recieve falling off the car at speed. The car was then painted using 2K paint baked on in Asylums ovens.

The advert was produced by Blink

So it turns out that it’s not a real car and so we can’t buy or borrow one to do an extensive road test (sigh). Oh well never mind, at least it’s out of my system (no pun intended). Actually when I look closely, it reminds me of a Fiat 500.

I love it- Actually if you think about it it takes styling cues (especially the front(the grill under the windscreen, the central badge and the headlights from the late ’60s and 70′s VW camper van. Would not mind betting that was what was in the mind of the designer. The door handles and the Black and silvewr number plates fit in with that too!

I say put it into production and give the Smart a run for its money. I read somewhere it is real because it has a 650cc motor in it.

    that car is too funny

If this was a kit car, I would build it. I think it’s great!

Tomauto – Where can we see the ad this car was in?
