Tokyo Motor Show: Technological Displays

As well as the SENKU, Mazda 5 Hybrid and MX-Crossport SUV, Mazda is developing unique technologies to create vehicles that combine care for the enviroment while still retaining the Zoom-Zoom driving spirit. Exhibits include a Mazda RX-8 equipped with a useable hydrogen RE engine, planned for commercial leasing in the future.

Test drives in the Mazda RX-8 Hydrogen RE are available at the Clean Energy Vehicle Test Ride event at Tokyo Motor Show.

In addition, on show will be the Smart Idling Stop System which eliminates the need for an electric starter motor and delivers quiet and quick starting; and Advanced Driver-Support Technologies that incorporate intelligent transport systems.

Also on display will be the next-generation MZR 2.3 DISI Turbo engine with direct injection that achieves clean, powerful performance.

The 39th Tokyo Motor Show will be held at at Makuhari Messe, Chilba prefecture, from Wednesday, 19th October until Sunday, 6 November 2005.

  • Yes this is the unit that is going into the Mazda 6 MPS which will be in the UK just after the new year.

    I have since posted some more information on this engine here
