The launch of the all new Mazda MX5 has already broken new ground with a chorus of accolades unprecendented in their enthusiasm.
If those accolades were coming from Mazda themselves, then you’d be right in thinking that the praise would be overblown. But when they are coming from the UK’s independent top motoring journalists, people who are not easy to impress, then the words take on a whole new meaning.
Here are some examples of what’s been said so far:
“It rides well, steers with precision, stops powerfully on command and handles with a lovely balance. It might be hard to improve on perfection but Mazda has done it better than anyone else” Peter Hall – The Telegraph – 25th June 2005
“Mazda has once again found the formula for a true roadster. The MX-5 legend is set to continue for a long time” Ken Gibson – The Sun – 24th June 2005
“Blast off in the magical new MX-5″ Peter Lyon – Auto Express – 22nd June 2005
“Its simply a brilliant sports car, a car that completely delivers on its promise. It’s affordable, comfortable and convenient” Richard Bremner – Autocar – 21st June 2005
“In 1989 the MX-5 was in a class of its own and so it is today” Andrew Frankel – The Sunday Times – 26th June 2005
“Mazda unveils the successor to its lengendary roadster…and it’s a corker” Russell Bray – The Mail on Sunday – 26th June 2005
“Pure roadster fun and easy to live with too. An antidote to the modern world, but still contemporary” – Paul Horrell – Top Gear Magazine – August 2005
High praise indeed to what is probably the most exciting car launch of 2005. The Auto Community will be bringing you our very own report once we manage to get our hands on one. Roll on November!
