Despite the rise in fuel across Europe, consumers are splashing out on SUV’s and 4 wheel drives according to Neil Hall, market analyst at car industry tracking firm JATO Dynamics.
A Popular choice in this the ever growing segment is the new Land Rover Discovery, a Ford based product which has taken on a complete revamp and totally revitalised sales of the much critised Land Rover range. Although its not just the heavy weights that are having it all their own way as Hall went onto say: “The new Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage are bringing new customers into the segment by selling a car-like product at a car-like price so you get a product that is tall like an SUV without any of the compromises.”
According to Jato, SUVs were the fastest-growing segment of the western European market in the first half, with sales up 11 percent to 49,817 units while sales of minicars fell by 7 percent.
